Meredith Zeitzer
Trial Attorney
Meredith’s Contact Information:
As a trial attorney with VSCP LAW, Meredith is a fierce advocate who is deeply committed to ensuring that those who have wronged her clients are held accountable for their misconduct. Meredith’s practice focuses on representing individuals who have experienced irreparable violations of their constitutional rights, victims of sexual abuse, and people who have suffered catastrophic injury or death due to medical malpractice, negligence, or defective products.
Meredith has a proven track record of zealously advocating for her clients and achieving successful outcomes in complex legal matters. Prior to joining VSCP LAW, Meredith spent over a decade serving as a public defender at the Defender Association of Philadelphia. A creative and strategic trial attorney, Meredith represented thousands of people accused of serious felony offenses. Meredith routinely secured not guilty verdicts for her clients because of her ability to command a courtroom, her keen attention to detail, and the high premium she places on building trusting relationships with her clients and their families.
During her tenure as a public defender, Meredith served in several leadership roles through which she confronted systemic violations of her clients’ constitutional rights. While overseeing the Association’s response to issues impacting incarcerated clients, nothing became more urgent for Meredith than protecting those clients from life-threatening, unconstitutional prison conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic. She worked tirelessly to develop a special release program that resulted in the safe release of hundreds of clients who were presumed innocent from dangerous and illegal conditions inside local prisons.
Meredith’s legal career reflects both a relentless pursuit of justice and a genuine care for the well-being of others. She was first drawn to the law following her experience serving as Deputy Campaign Manager for a candidate who ran for Philadelphia District Attorney in 2009. While on the campaign trail, Meredith met thousands of people who shared stories of injustice, trauma, and heartache. Those meaningful conversations inspired Meredith to pursue a career in law and use her power as an attorney to right the wrongs that are unfairly inflicted on so many people.
Meredith graduated cum laude from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where she served as President of Temple’s Moot Court Honor Society. A natural litigator, Meredith received numerous accolades for her trial and appellate skills, including the National Order of the Barristers Award, the Temple Law Alumni Moot Court Award, and the Barrister Award for Best Overall Performance in Advanced Trial Advocacy. While in law school, Meredith was awarded several fellowships to support her commitment to public service: the Rubin Public Interest Law Honor Society Fellowship, the Honorable Dolores K. Sloviter Public Interest Fellowship, and the Equal Justice America Law Student Fellowship. After law school, Meredith served as a law clerk to the Honorable Susan F. Maven of the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, and later had the privilege of returning to Temple Law as an adjunct professor to teach an advanced course on appellate legal writing and procedure.
Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Meredith is a recognized leader in the Philadelphia legal community. She has served three consecutive terms as Co-Chair of the Criminal Justice Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association and is an active member of the Bar Association’s Board of Governors. Last year, Meredith was selected to serve on the Professional Development and Training Subcommittee of the Pennsylvania Indigent Defense Advisory Committee (IDAC), a legislative initiative created to develop statewide standards and funding recommendations for indigent defense across Pennsylvania.
Meredith grew up in Princeton, New Jersey, although her family originally hails from the East Oak Lane section of Philadelphia and nearby Cheltenham. She earned her bachelor’s degree cum laude in English and French literature from Tufts University. When not practicing law, Meredith can be found cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, painting, and spending time with her family.
